Stretch a low battery through the day

Extreme battery saver, step by step on Samsung, Pixel and Xiaomi phones.

Why it helps

When you are far from a charger, this keeps only the essentials such as calls, messages and maps running, so the battery lasts many more hours.

What you'll notice

The phone switches to a simpler screen with only your chosen apps, and the estimated battery time goes up a lot.

When to use it

When your battery is low and a charger is hours away, then turn on the extreme saver.

How to set it up

Pick your phone.

Samsung Galaxy

  1. Settings
  2. Battery
  3. Power saving
  1. Tap "Power saving".
  2. Choose "Maximum" (on One UI 8, turn on "Limit apps and Home screen").
  3. Add the apps you still need, then turn power saving on.

Based on reports from owners and the tech press. We have not yet checked it on a phone ourselves.

Google Pixel

  1. Settings
  2. Battery
  3. Battery Saver
  4. Extreme Battery Saver
  1. Tap "Battery Saver", then "Extreme Battery Saver".

  3. Ultra battery saver

How to undo it

Turn the extreme saver off in the same screen or from Quick Settings.

Labels can differ. Menu names and their order vary between models and can change with a system update. If a step doesn't match your phone, search Settings for the feature name or one of its other names: Maximum power saving, Ultra battery saver, Limit apps and Home screen.
