Why it helps

Old photos, shaky shots and pictures saved from chats can be sharpened and cleaned up in a tap.

What you'll notice

Faces and edges look crisper and the noise is gone, and your original is kept.

When to use it

When a photo you love looks soft or grainy, then open it and remaster it.

How to set it up

Pick your phone.

Samsung Galaxy

  1. Gallery
  2. Photo
  3. More options
  4. Remaster
  1. Open the photo in Gallery
  2. Tap the three dots, then the "Remaster" option
  3. Compare before and after, then tap "Save"

Based on reports from owners and the tech press. We have not yet checked it on a phone ourselves.

Google Pixel

  1. Google Photos
  2. Photo
  3. Edit
  4. Tools
  5. Unblur
  1. Open the photo in Google Photos and tap "Edit"
  2. Tap "Tools", then "Unblur"
  3. Tap "Done", then "Save copy"

Photo Unblur is on Pixel 7 and newer.

Based on reports from owners and the tech press. We have not yet checked it on a phone ourselves.

How to undo it

Your original photo stays; delete the remastered copy if you prefer the old one.

Labels can differ. Menu names and their order vary between models and can change with a system update. If a step doesn't match your phone, search Settings for the feature name or one of its other names: unblur, enhance photo, sharpen photo, fix blurry photo.
