Camera Assistant, step by step on Samsung phones.

Why it helps

Samsung’s camera smooths details and switches lenses on its own. Camera Assistant lets you turn that off and speed up the shutter.

What you'll notice

Photos keep fine detail like hair and texture, and the camera stays on the lens you chose.

How to set it up

Samsung Galaxy

  1. Good Lock
  2. Life up
  3. Camera Assistant
  1. Open Good Lock and tap the "Life up" tab
  2. Install and open "Camera Assistant"
  3. Turn off "Auto lens switching"
  4. Lower or turn off picture softening for sharper detail

Mainly Galaxy S, Z and some A phones; Good Lock only shows it if your phone supports it.

You need the Good Lock app installed first.

Based on reports from owners and the tech press. We have not yet checked it on a phone ourselves.

How to undo it

Open Camera Assistant and tap reset, or switch the options back on.

Labels can differ. Menu names and their order vary between models and can change with a system update. If a step doesn't match your phone, search Settings for the feature name or one of its other names: good lock camera, sharpening, lens switching, camera tweaks.
