Why it helps

Widgets on the lock screen let you check the weather, your next event or smart home controls without unlocking.

How to set it up

Pick your phone.

Samsung Galaxy

  1. Lock screen
  2. Touch and hold
  3. Widgets
  1. Touch and hold an empty part of the lock screen, and unlock when asked.
  2. Tap "Widgets".
  3. Choose the widgets you want, then tap "Done".

Google Pixel

  1. Settings
  2. Display & touch
  3. Lock screen
  4. Widgets on lock screen
  1. Turn on "Widgets on lock screen".
  2. On the lock screen, swipe left from the right edge to see them.
  3. Use the edit option there to add the widgets you want.

Needs Android 16 or later.

Arrived on Pixel phones with the December 2025 update (Android 16 QPR2).

How to undo it

Edit the lock screen again and remove the widgets.

Labels can differ. Menu names and their order vary between models and can change with a system update. If a step doesn't match your phone, search Settings for the feature name or one of its other names: Widgets on lock screen.
