Why it helps

A short pause appears before the apps you choose open. You can still go in, but the moment to think helps break the automatic habit.

What you'll notice

Opening one of your chosen apps first shows a short pause, then lets you carry on if you still want to.

How to set it up

Google Pixel

  1. Settings
  2. Digital Wellbeing
  3. Pause Point
  1. Tap "Digital Wellbeing", then "Pause Point".
  2. Choose the apps that tend to pull you in.

Pixel 6 and newer, from the September 2026 update.

Based on reports from owners and the tech press. We have not yet checked it on a phone ourselves.

How to undo it

Remove the apps from Pause Point, or turn it off.

Labels can differ. Menu names and their order vary between models and can change with a system update. If a step doesn't match your phone, search Settings for the feature name or one of its other names: Mindful pause, App pause.
