Why it helps

When one app sends a burst of notifications, each new one gets gentler, so a busy group chat doesn't ping you nonstop.

What you'll notice

The first alert sounds as normal, and the ones that follow from the same app are quieter.

How to set it up

Google Pixel

  1. Settings
  2. Notifications
  3. Notification cooldown
  1. Tap "Notification cooldown" and turn it on.

Needs Android 16 or later.

Based on reports from owners and the tech press. We have not yet checked it on a phone ourselves.

How to undo it

Turn it off in the same screen.

Labels can differ. Menu names and their order vary between models and can change with a system update. If a step doesn't match your phone, search Settings for the feature name or one of its other names: Cooldown, Quieter repeat notifications.
