Type comfortably with one thumb
One-handed keyboard, step by step on Samsung, Pixel and Xiaomi phones.
Why it helps
On a big phone the far keys are a stretch. The keyboard can shrink to one side so every key is within reach.
What you'll notice
The keyboard sits closer to your thumb, and you can switch sides or go back to full size with one tap.
When to use it
When you are typing with one hand, then switch the keyboard to one-handed mode.

Labels can differ. Menu names and their order vary between models and can change with a system update. If a step doesn't match your phone, search Settings for the feature name or one of its other names: small keyboard, floating keyboard, resize keyboard, thumb keyboard.
