Watch videos with the sound off
Live Caption, step by step on Samsung and Pixel phones.
Why it helps
Your phone writes subtitles for any video, voice note or call as it plays, even offline, so you can follow along on a quiet train.
What you'll notice
A caption box appears over anything that is talking, in any app.
When to use it
When you want to watch something without sound, then turn on Live Caption from the volume controls.
How to set it up
Pick your phone.

Based on reports from owners and the tech press. We have not yet checked it on a phone ourselves.

Tap the captions icon in the volume panel again, or switch Live Caption off in Accessibility.
Labels can differ. Menu names and their order vary between models and can change with a system update. If a step doesn't match your phone, search Settings for the feature name or one of its other names: subtitles, captions, closed captions, auto captions.
