Why it helps

Archiving removes an app’s bulk but keeps your login and data, so the icon stays and the app comes back with one tap.

What you'll notice

Rarely used apps show a small cloud on their icon, and your storage goes up.

How to set it up

Pick your phone.

  5. Automatically archive apps
  1. Open the Play Store and tap your profile picture

  3. Turn on "Automatically archive apps"

Based on reports from owners and the tech press. We have not yet checked it on a phone ourselves.

Labels can differ. Menu names and their order vary between models and can change with a system update. If a step doesn't match your phone, search Settings for the feature name or one of its other names: archive, offload apps, unused apps, free up space.
