Why it helps

Banking, photo or chat apps can ask for your fingerprint or PIN before they open, even when the phone is already unlocked.

What you'll notice

The apps you lock ask for your fingerprint, face or PIN each time they open.

How to set it up

Pick your phone.

Samsung Galaxy

  1. Settings
  2. Security and privacy
  3. More security settings
  4. Secure Folder
  1. Set up Secure Folder first (see "Keep private apps in a hidden, locked space").
  2. Open Secure Folder, tap + and add the app.
  3. Use the copy inside Secure Folder. It only opens with your Secure Folder lock.

Galaxy phones lock apps through Secure Folder. A separate app lock is reported for One UI 9.5.

Labels can differ. Menu names and their order vary between models and can change with a system update. If a step doesn't match your phone, search Settings for the feature name or one of its other names: Lock apps, App locker, Secure Folder, Lock an app.
